GDT is being used in a pretty wide variety of applications, like in otolaryngology at universities, and recording studios even. It's always great to hear from people, and so here are some emails about GDT. (Edited for expletives, spelling/grammar, clarity.)
FAIR WARNING: People often get pretty excited with GDT, and use some... "colorful" language... Click the "Colorful" buttons to expand and read them.
"The best purchase I have ever made for advancing my guitar playing!"
There are so many more emails that people have sent me, but this is really one of those that again put another HUGE smile on my face:
Thanks so much for your prompt response and great customer service. I have been playing for 25 years and I really do believe this is the best purchase I have ever made for advancing my guitar playing. I would recommend it to anyone at any level of playing.
Bryan Soth
Bryan bought a GDT license a few years ago, and while I'd emailed him a free upgrade, he didn't get the email for some reason. (I blame spammers for forcing aggressive email filtering policies on email providers --- I'll skip that rant for now.) So I resent Bryan his license key and he emailed me back with that.
GDT is about helping you become a better musician, and man! I could never have said it better than Bryan! That's what GDT is all about - helping to improve your playing!
"I play much better because of it."
I think that the best compliment I've ever received was from Bill Gary:
You've been a lot of help... Thanks again for the great program... I play much better because of it...
Bill
What really made my day was hearing Bill say, "I play much better because of it." WOW! That's EXACTLY what GDT is supposed to do! I've helped someone improve their playing! You know that's got to feel really good!
"Without GDT, I would have been dead in the water."
Time and time again, I can't believe just how very lucky I am to have so many very cool people using my software. And probably most of them are far better musicians than I am. Jonathan Roehm is another one of those people that would easily blow me away as a musician with the least of his efforts. Here's what he has to say:
Having been a classically trained musician for most of my life, picking up a new instrument to fill a slot in a local band was the least of my worries. I was staring down a list of 50+ original songs that I was expected to know inside and out before auditioning. Without GDT, I would have been dead in the water. Allowing me to slow down even the most complicated jam riffs made it simple to track each note, bit by bit until I was able to put the entire song together. Thank the gods for GDT!
"I am so happy with this I could s**t!"
I had someone ask me why I used "Drum" in the name of the program. I replied that when I made it I figured it would be useful for drummers as well, or that I was drunk - 1 of the 2. But there are drummers using it like Dan from Mercer Island:
I have to tell you, this is one of the BEST programs I have run into by far. I am learning drums (and some bass) and I am so happy with this I could s**t! Seriously, I sent my payment and this is a big thanks!
Dan
Seems like Guitar and Drum Trainer is not only good for learning instruments, but it also keeps people regular and makes them s**t! Perhaps I can sell it as the world's first downloadable laxative! :)
"This thing f**king rocks man!"
Feedback from people is WONDERFUL, and sometimes (actually quite often) they put a huge smile on my face, like these emails from Dan Parsons:
I can't tell you how happy I am to have found Guitar & Drum Trainer. It's EXACTLY what I wanted, and before I found it, I told myself I'd have to settle for something that cost a lot of money and did a bunch of things I didn't care about. This thing f**king rocks man! Thank you for making my evening so much better.
Rock on,

"It's shocking how well-suited it is for me."
We exchaged a couple emails and I thanked him for his kinds words & mentioned a new GDT version:
Man. I just finally got to play with the new GDT. I can't believe how perfect this thing is. This is exactly, EXACTLY what I wanted... when I first started looking I decided that something like this is what I wanted but realized I'd have to settle for something less, most likely. If I had the time to write something like this, this is exactly the way I would have done it. It's shocking how well-suited it is for me.
Dan Parsons
There are many very cool people out there that really know how to make me laugh:
Now after all this years of my life I'm going crazy. Your software is the reason. If I only had this software ten years ago!! Ssssshiiiiiit.
I mean this seriously, really without joking. YOU HAVE DONE A REALLY REALLY PERFECT JOB. THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR THIS RYAN!!!
Now I will go to the neighbours flock of sheep and have sex with them and after that I will work 365 Days and Nights with your software. Haha.
Hey man, thank you very much!
All the Best
Roland
"I love your software so much."
Great to see people using GDT have such a great sense of humor! I emailed Roland for permission to put this up a bit edited. His reply was just as cool!
Hey Ryan
Of course you can post my E-Mail at Renegade Minds. Also you can edit them a bit, because my neighbour has only one sheep. (haha). I love your software so much. Really perfect!!!!!!
yours sincerely
Roland
"I feel like I have a secret weapon in my guitar training toolbox!"
Greg Fortune, president of Megaton Technologies, wrote a very nice recommendation for Guitar & Drum Trainer.
When I bought GDT I thought I was buying a system for slowing down music so I could learn it accurately. What I didn’t expect was that the other features would be so useful so quickly. Not only has this program done more than expected, by removing the frustration associated with learning new songs, it has dramatically increased both the length and quality of my practice sessions. I feel like I have a secret weapon in my guitar training toolbox! I know that I am going to be a much better musician moving forward because of GDT.
If you are thinking about buying GDT, do it right now. The benefits you think you’ll get from it are just the tip of the iceberg of what you’ll actually find!
I think it would be pretty darn difficult to have better customers.
"If I only could have found this a long time ago..."
Renzo runs a website for musicians that has all kinds of different printable blank sheet music (http://www.BlankSheetMusic.net/), so if you are using GDT for transcribing, I'd highly recommend you check out his site. Here's some of what he had to say when he emailed me:
First of all, you did a really great job!
If I only could have found this a long time ago, I would not have been spending my time with < popular audio editor > always crashing at the second time/pitch change! >:(
I hope that you give GDT a try and see if it's something that can help you become a better musician. It's helped lots of other people, and chances are that it can help you too. (The good Lord knows that I need GDT for myself, which is why I originally created it!)
Peace, Love, and Eternal Grooviness!
