Ok, well the title is a bit harsh. But I really don't know what else to make of it. People lie about using Macs & Linux. They don't really. They use Windows. Maybe they just think it's cool. Who knows why they lie. But they do... I suppose if you're really self-conscious and can't stand up for yourself (i.e. You're a wimp) then it might make sense to lie when people constantly denigrate Windows. But lying anonymously? That's just silly.
Here's the proof. The underlying stats are from Urchin. The stats on top are from a volunteer survey:
Nobody lies about using Windows! They use Windows & lie about using something else!
Wannabes! I fart in your general direction!
But if you think about it, people lie MORE about Linux! I suppose Linux is just cooler than Mac. So much for Apple being the 'hip' company!

No. There were no multiple choices. Respondents picked just one OS.
The logs aren't actually from here. There from another site with a much larger traffic volume.

Hmmm...I was a sysop on a 2.9 UNIX PDP-11/24, I learned computing on Macs (IBMs were kept for the business crowd), and I still have a DOS computer, as I need it for my work. Have I used Windows? Back in the days of 3.0. I also have used OS/2, which is in some ways a superior operating system. And, by the way, the Data Collection System that runs the powerplants that I work at doesnt run on Windows...OS/2 Warp. Windows is used only to write notes.
Yes, I have run Linux, and as my only OS for a while at that. But now I work with Windows, and believe me, when it comes to pitching Windows (even Windows 2k Server) as a reliable OS over against Unix when the data involved is required by the Federal Government on penalty of fines and/or imprisonment, Unix wins.
