I'm constantly going back to check out Apple stuff all the time, but it's really discouraging just about every time. If I were to believe some of the stuff I hear from Apple, I'd have to believe that in order to develop for the Mac, you've got to be a self-righteous jack-ass. Here's a bit from Apple's WWDC intro video.
"Hello. I'm PC. And I have a personal message from Steve Jobs to all you developers. Take the rest of the year off. That's right. Take a long vacation. Just relax those big brains for a while. Steve and I agree that we can go ahead and stop making seamless software that just works. Let's let the Mac users experience compatibility problems and viruses and error message[s] that builds character. Instead you should just work on your tan...
...If you want you can help out on Vista. We could... we could... use... some help there. And Steve says that's fine. He doesn't like to see Microsoft so far behind..."
Yadda yadda yadda...
So, if you develop for Windows, your software then suffers from compatibility problems? Huh? Man... It just gets nauseating constantly hearing all the venom and religious mumbo-jumbo all the time.
While I've been considering developing some things for the Mac, I don't really know if I'm all that interested in getting into that community. I'm a member of several great organizations where people are friendly and exchange information pretty freely. I kind of like that. Most of them develop for Windows. Well, almost all of them develop for Windows. But I don't think I've ever heard any Mac bashing.
Heck... I just needed to vent. I'm just getting a bit tired of Apple and a bunch of Mac fanatics constantly spouting venom. It really puts me off of 'making the switch'.

Re: To Mac Or Not To Mac...
Ryan,
I'm just a lay computer user and I use a PC for work and at home. That said, I've consistently heard that the Mac platform is actually superior, with it's only shortfall being that it's less accepted for the majority of business uses. I'd be interesed to hear your thoughts on this. Thanks!

Re: To Mac Or Not To Mac...
I keep wanting to get into Mac development. I've got an old iMac sitting around here, and keep meaning to fire it up. One of these days I will.
One of the discouraging things about that though is constantly hearing anti-Microsoft stuff coming from the Mac community. I really don't want any part of that. They're different OSes, but that doesn't mean that either one is necessarily bad.
A good friend of mine has urged me to get into developing for the Mac - he actually gave me the iMac to get started on. He uses Mac exclusively in his office and does well with a lot of basically computer illiterate people using them. So there's something to be said for the Mac.
Anyways, one of these days I'll buckle down and get started.
Cheers,
Ryan
