John Jones left us shortly after midnight last night.
The wake is being held now for John Jones at the Ulchiro National Medical Center (국림의료원) in the funeral parlor (장례식장 206호) in room #206.
A memorial service will be held at around 8:30pm today. It would be nice if any friends could come this afternoon or be there for the service.
John was one of my closest friends. He will be sorely missed by many.
John was only 47.
This is not what I was supposed to be doing today. This isn't what Chuseok was supposed to be. I was supposed to make an important introduction with John in 12 days. That will never happen now.
I was just out with John last night. We parted just before midnight. I received a call from Kwisook at 1:17am from John's phone. He'd just gotten a new computer and fixed up his office with a new additional desk and layout. He had a truckload of work to do over the Chuseok holiday, all due on Tuesday morning.
Graham and I have been calling people and trying to get ahold of people by IM or email or any way possible. But with international time zone differences, and it being a holiday here, our success rate has suffered. I've not been able to get in contact with another 2 of John's close friends, Olaf Kullig and Sean Witty.
I've got no bedside manner. I'm horrible at it. And I'm very thankful for John Grimmet who was at the hospital last night with us, because he's got good bedside manner.
There's so much to say, but really no words to do it.
Sadly,
Ryan
