So, I need at least 1 SSL certificate and finally get around to buying one... I look around and find a great deal offered by a friend of mine, Mitchell Vincent of Ksoftware. He's a fantastic fellow and I'd completely forgotten about him reselling Comodo SSL certificates. Fantastic prices that pretty much beat everything out there, definitely beat Comodo's prices by far, and so that's a simple decision, or almost...

I'd used Comodo in the past with no problems, and also TRIED to use them with nothing but ice-pick wielding, eye-stabbing pain and eventually had to get a refund because they just couldn't manage to get me a certificate. But hey! This is a few years later, and after all, the price is fantastic, and issuance is automated! What can go wrong? It's just a basic, automated domain verification!

Well, my patience today isn't really the greatest as I have a truckload of work to do and just can't wait. After about 15 minutes or so, my patience is wearing thin. This is supposed to be automated as it's nothing more than a domain verification for an SSL certificate. Not hard stuff to do. You send an email to the registrant email address and get somebody to click a link in the email. Not that hard.

But like I said, my patience is wearing thin... And while I'm farting around stabbing myself in the eye with an ice-pick again for using Comodo, I come across a GoDaddy.com ad for SSL certificates.

Now, I'd seen those same GoDaddy SSL certificates going for $29.95, and now they're going for $12.99! Well, that's cheaper than what I'd just paid! But I'd just bought an SSL certificate and it had only been about 20 or 30 minutes... I can be a bit more patient...

Well, almost 2 hours later my patience ran out. I simply have too much to do and I can't wait anylonger. So what if it costs me a few bucks more? Who cares? I need it NOW! So... I go to GoDaddy, buy another SSL certificate, and have it installed and working all inside of about 10 minutes. WOW~!

I've heard people go on about how much they hate GoDaddy (mostly because of them trying to upsell a million other products/services), but I've really had nothing but fantastic experiences with them. They're blistering fast and I've never needed to wait for any significant length of time.

Well, not entirely true... When I was living in Batu Feringghi, Penang, I simply could not purchase anything from GoDaddy. It was insanely frustrating, but eventually I figured out that they were blocking my purchases due to the high degree of credit card and Internet fraud originating from Malaysia. I just logged into my server and purchased from there. No problems. A frustrating hiccup, but stuff still worked.

I've had people ask me about web hosts and all kinds of things, and I really only know a few companies that I would recommend and feel confident that people's needs would be met by them. GoDaddy has been one of them for a long time, and yet again, they've reinforced in me just how dedicated they are to providing fantastic products and service.

Their speed of service is simply phenomenal. Whenever I need to get something done, they've got everything automated and moving right along with none of the nutty speed-bumps that I'd get elsewhere. That saves me time and hair, well... not so much hair at the moment as I've shaved my head bald, but if I had hair to pull out, there are many companies out there that are more than willing to give me reasons!

So... On to the personal reflection...

I've been emailing software licenses manually for years now, and it's really very far from ideal. I've totally slacked off and it's entirely my fault. It doesn't take 5 years to get it right... But this is one step in the process of finally getting my software licenses automated so that people wait up to 24 seconds, instead of up to 24 hours. I'm getting there! Soon people will be able to get that same speedy service from Renegade Minds!

Cheers!

Oh... Almost forgot! The Comodo certificate still hasn't arrived!
