So, you're thinking about driving in Korea? Great! It beats getting body slammed in the subway by what you thought was a 6' 4” former NFL line backer, but really just turned out to be some 4' 6” 80 year old grandma... In any event, allow me to humbly offer some sage advice for driving in the ROK:
- Don't.
- If you really must drive in Korea, get a beater.
- Don't ask them to check the oil at the gas station. They'll put windshield washer fluid in the radiator. (It happened to me!)
- Learn to tailgate. If you thought people butt into lines a lot, driving is worse.
- Red lights are only a suggestion.
- If there are police at an intersection and they are on foot, red lights are probably still only a suggesstion.
- It's ok to drive drunk. Most people drive like that when they're sober anyways.
- The more expensive the car, the more ignorant the driver.
- Get a GPS map device. It will tell you where all the speeding cameras are.
- There is no greater satisfaction than seeing a taxi driver getting bitched out by a cop.
Ok, so they're not all serious, but you can figure out which ones are. (Hint, 2, 3, 4, 8, and 9 are serious!)
Cheers,
Ryan

Re: 10 Tips for Driving in Korea
Hey Buddy,
It's just like that in the Dominican Republic, except they won't pour the wrong juice in the wrong hole. They are experts here in squeezing out that last possible shred of life in a car...maybe for years. Yes, the last possible shred for years! :) Your #10 is serious! Seriously funny! Nothin' better than the taxi drivers, bus drivers, or moto-cab guys gettin' their bacon chewed!

Re: 10 Tips for Driving in Korea
I was a driver in Korea for a Battalion Commander and the driving made for some of the most exciting times in my military career.
