I've got GDT well underway at the moment and will be putting in some new things that I know I want, and that I know everyone else wants too.

So far it's all very very alpha, and I still need to add in about 90% of the functionality, but I've just finished getting the basics down for the core of GDT as well as some extended functionality that I've been promising for a long time now. I'll certainly be rewriting much of the new stuff as it's functional at the moment, but I'd like to make it much more user-friendly and customizable.

There are a couple outstanding bugs as well, and those are already solved in the new version as well. I know this is taking some time to get done, but it will be well worth it when I'm finished.

Like v3.2 beta, I'll send out an invitation to all licensees to get a preview of GDT 4 and give me some feedback before the final version is released.

Cheers,

Ryan

Re: GDT 4 Underway

If I buy 3.3 now, are you going to offer an upgrade discount? Also, I would like a "Count-In" for every loop. Right now, it only counts in after a pause. I would like to be able to adjust the count-in time so I can reposition my hand in time to start the loop over. When I was using the trial version, I would have to play along with every other loop because I just couldn't get to the startin point fast enough. BTW, Great program! Can't wait to see v4.00

Muchas Gracias,
Patrick

Oooops. Answered your email, but didn't post here.

Yes. The "count-in" at the end of a loop is in GDT v4 now. :)

For discounts, I haven't come to a final decision, but I'm going to try to keep things as reasonable as possible. There is some new technology that I'm planning on putting into GDT that is very expensive, but well worth it. There absolutely no way I'll charge anyone that purchased within 90 days, but I may go as high as 6 months or a year. Not sure yet, but I will most certainly be more than reasonable. I don't like getting gouged for licenses, and I certainly don't want to do that myself.

Cheers,

Ryan

Re: GDT 4 Underway

Hey Ryan,
I talked to you almost a year ago about GDT3 and my desire to be able to support DRM in WMA files. Will this be available in V4? Since that was a "show stopper" for me, I opted to wait for that prior to purchase. It might be helpful (though dangerous) to have a list of "planned" enhancements to V4 and a known cost in the upgrade path - i.e. free to registered users w/i 6 months of purchase, $xx.xx after, etc. Having been in the software biz, I won't even ask for an eta...

Sorry, I know so little about this sort of stuff: Will this software, or is there any software, that will allow me to save the file to disk after varying the pitch/speed? --Lisa S.

Re: GDT 4 Underway

Hello Doug,

I'm still working on the WMA DRM thing, but that will not be in the first release of GDT v4. I'll get that in ASAP though.

As for the upgrade cost, check the blog. I'm not really into charging if I don't have to. "Renegade Minds" is "Renegade" for a reason. I don't aim to be what everyone else is doing. The blog has all the details though.

Lisa,

Not in v3, but that's in v4 and I'm on track for an April release.

The truth is that I try to give myself a birthday present by releasing an important GDT version on or around my birthday in April. This year I think I'll make it again. :)

Cheers,

Ryan

Ooh, I'm looking forward to the new capability to save a file that includes the varied playback speed/pitch/whatever. And I wish you a happy (and "successful") birthday! --Lisa S.
