Yes - this blog post is inspired by yet another of the many requests that I get...
I really wish that I had more time to do some things. But time is money, and we all have lives and bills to pay.
The Renegade DotNetNuke Keep Alive program is something that I constantly get requests for, but I just don't have the time to finish things up. (It's free.)
The request that I constantly get for the Renegade DotNetNuke Keep Alive program is for support to keep multiple sites alive.
At the moment, I'm about 75% finished with a first version of a “server-ready” Renegade DNN KeepAlive that will allow people to keep several DotNetNuke (or any ASP.NET) web sites alive.
Heck. I've been 75% finished for about 5 or 6 months now! I just haven't had the time to get back to finishing things. It's terribly frustrating too. I love writing software. I love marketing software. I love bringing solutions to problems to people -- software or otherwise.
I've never made a single cent off of the KeepAlive program, but that doesn't bother me in the least. If it were commercial, I could dedicate more resources to it instead of doing other things. Well... Not really... I don't think that there's much of a market for it as far as I want to pursue it. I'm not a component developer and just can't seem to muster the time for some of these things. I wish I could.
There are quite a few people using the Renegade DNN KeepAlive, and I'm glad that I can help them out. But for the moment, I just can't muster the time to solve the multiple site problem... Or at least the remaining 25% of the problem.
Regretfully,
Ryan
