I've used Music Match Jukebox as my alarm clock for at least 4 years now. Every day I wake up to a playlist in MMJ. No more though.
Music Match started throwing errors, and lots of them. Not like just lots. But REALLY LOTS! The only thing it would do is repetitively throw errors until I managed to kill the process. Now, killing the process was a herculean effort in itself. I'd have to try to kill it and kill the process tree at least 20x before it would finally die. I probably had to click several hundred OK buttons while trying to kill the process. It just didn't do anything except throw errors.
Upgrading didn't work either. The installer choked on my W2k3 box and that was the end of it.
No idea what went wrong, but from all the nasty upgrade notices in the past, I'm guessing it was simply a bad attempt to update itself. I was perfectly happy with the past versions, but had similar problems with upgrade nastiness trying to get me to upgrade... Ummm... NO! It works as it is and that's fine. But was that good enough? Nope. I eventually had to upgrade. This time things just broke completely.
Now, I was using the free version, and so I don't expect any support. If they had support, I might contact them. Oh well. At least ALTools have free support. [ Hint hint! ]
It's too bad. Though I never really used it as an audio player, it was a great alarm clock. Oh well. Time to get a replacement until I can find time to program my own... One that doesn't force you to upgrade... :)
Cheers,
Ryan
