If your .NET Framework has somehow been corrupted or misconfigured, GDT can crash at startup with an error message that doesn't help much.

To fix the problem, follow the instructions here:

That's a .NET removal/repair kit and will get things working for you again.

Hey guys,

Every Satriani song I have downloaded from iTunes will never upload properly because they are all MPEG 4 Audio Files. The program does not stall or crash. It just remains black. Any old song that is an MP3 works fine. These MP4s is really what I would like to get out of this program. Is it possible to import MP4s?

Best,

I 've been using GDT4 for a while now and I've noticed a few issues with the program. First off, I'd like to say I love the program. It is extremely useful for transcribing and practicing my guitar.

However there are a few things that are not working correctly.

The saving of files is perhaps the biggest complaint I have. When saving a file, it is kind of tricky in that it is easy to overwrite the wrong file.

I often work on multiple songs at a session. I first open one song and work for a while and if I need to save it, I do it with no problem. However if I open another file to work on it, the file name info from the first file is not correct. What comes up in the save config dialog is the name of the mp3 file. This results in a file name with, for example, 'Stairway to Heaven.mp3.gdt'. The mp3 extension should be removed by the program. II think there may be some more bug aboos in the file save dialog but I don't recall them off hand.

Also, when opening an audio file, the file opens and says the name of the song on the title bar. This is nice but when opening a config file, this info is not displayed. It just says the program name. Then, if I change the file by opening a config file, the info in the title bar is not refreshed. It will display the program title or the previously opened audio file.

Also, a bug that appears when I use the 'loop delay' check box. When I use this, the program will throw an exception and bring up a dialog. I have found that I can ignore this and the prgram keeps running fine. This only happens when the loop delay is used. I won't happen immediately, sometimes it takes a while but it will usually pop up. I don't often use the delay but it is useful for practing a very fast passage.

I thought I would bring this to your attention.

Thanks for a great program.

Hi,

saving pitch-shifted files as mp3 (with addon lame.exe) will always result in mp3 with 384kb.

Is it possible to adjust the bitrate before saving the file?

I have Windows XP and just downloaded Guitar and Drum Trainer.

I can import my MP3 or WAV file just fine, but when I hit the play button, the song plays but the hour glass shows the entire time and I can't do anything. The pause and stop buttons stay greyed, I can't stop the music from playing, I can't set loops, I can't do anything. All I see is the hour glass while the song plays and then my only resourse is to shut down GDT. And then at the top in the blue bar it says the program is not responding.

I've rebooted and restarted the software three and four times and the same thing happens every time. I've even tried different songs in different file formats, same problem.

HI,

I just upgraded to the 'official' Windows 7 and I re-installed GDT. I had GDT working on the RTM beta version of Windows 7.. it worked fine. But now, it loads.. I can see the process running and an icon appears in the task bar.. but no windows appear. I've tried changing the compatibility modes.. makes no difference... I can't figure out why it won't display anything.

Anyone have any suggestions?

I have a slew of music that I purchased thru iTunes - it would be great to be able to import an iTunes purchased song directly into GDT. I realize I can burn a CD and then import - just would be a lot more convenient if GDT could process directly from iTunes formatted music (.m4a)...anything in the works to support this?

I have been using GDT4 on a Vista machine with great success. I have migrated to a netbook with an Atom processor and 1 GB of ram. I have loaded Windows 7 onto that netbook.

I cannot get GDT4 to work on my Windows 7 machine. There are the usual screen resolution issues - but these are not insurmountable. Howver, while I can get GDT4 to load an mp3 and to play it, The 'stop' and 'pause' buttons are greyed out. All other features of the program seem frozen, and I can only exit through task manager.

I know that Windows 7 has not yet been released, so I do not EXPECT anything to work on it. However, I thought I'd write to see if this is a problem that anyone else has encountered, and to see if a solution might be forthcoming.

Thanks

Hi

I just installed the program and when I go to play back a wav (from the CD-ROM drive) or an mp3 (from hard drive) the sound is almost unlistenable. Seems to be a lot of static or fuzz (possibly clipping?) to the point that I can barely make out the music at all.

Any suggestions?

I'm running XP on an Athlon 2.19 GHz with 2 GB of RAM.
