Getting .NET Framework loaded on Windows 8 is pretty easy. I found an article on the web describing it. Here is the important parts for those who run into installation questions. After I followed these steps the rest of the GD T installation went fine and no issues with running the program.

--------------------

.NET Framework 2.0 is not installed on Windows 8 by default.

To install it, go to Control Panel – Programs – Turn Windows features on or off – Check ‘Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5.1′ – OK.

Note, that .NET Framework 2.0 is included into version 3.5.

Hi,

I'm running version 4.0.0.4 and up until now haven't had any problems loading and working with WMA files. Today I went to load a file and it simply stayed on the screen saying 'Creating and Loading Waveforms... Please Wait...' etc. etc.

I left it like that for over an hour and still the song wouldn't load.

Any help would be much appreciated.

I'm using Windows Vista.

Thanks,

Mark

I had GDT3 on my PC and now would like to upgrade to GDT4 and run it on my new Windows 7 64 bit laptop.

I downloaded GDT4 but when I tried to install .NET 2.0 from the link in the readme.txt it does not install on Windows 7 64 bit.

1) Any suggestions to get the required .NET 2.0 in place

2) Will I need a new license number once I install GDT4?

Thanks

First off, I love the product - I learning to sing 4 part harmony (baritone) and I use it to slow and slice up the practice recordings I'm using.

Once I create loops in a recording, is there any way to save individual loop sections as separate mp3 files? I often load mp3s onto a USB thumb drive and pratice driving to and from work using my car radio. I'd be nice to be able to work on sections of songs.

Thanks.

Great program. I had a couple of ideas in case you ever decide to put out an update or new version. 1) Upon program start, remember last window positions and size. 2) Have a recent file list (or drop down) next to the “file open” button. This will save navigating to various folders on hard drive for the most recent songs I have been working on.

FYI: I have the program set to open last file (configuration) upon start of GDT. However, when I open GDT the song name is not displayed anywhere. If GTD is already open and I select and open a file the song tile, artist, and album is displayed in top border of main window. This is blank when opening last configuration. Just an FYI, not a big issue. I am running Windows XP SP3

Ryan,

I was thinking that GDT should have a short loop tool. It would work like a variable time loop that would quickly isolate a short passage and repeat it. For example the cursor could represent a magnifying lens and when placed over a certain area in the waveform, it would loop that area to a setable short duration time such as maybe a half second or so. The idea would be great for getting that really difficult note or short passage to repeat without spending the time setting loop points.

When the mouse is moved, the loop will change accordingly on the fly.

I'm trying to save a slowed song as an mp3 file but each time I attempt it I'm getting a ton of static/distortion. So much so that the song file is unusable.

I've tried this with two different version of the source file. One is a WMA file, the other is an MP3. Neither of them work once I save the song in GDT.

Just to be clear on what I'm doing. I'm opening the source file in GDT, changing the speed of the song -20 and then using File > Save Slowed/Pitch Shifted Song to save the song as an MP3.

Here are 2 original source files so you can see what I'm starting with

-----------------------------------------

WMA Version: 'http://www.richardlpalmer.com/media/gdt/Down%20with%20the%20sickness%20-%20Backing%20track.wma'>www.richardlpalmer.com/media/gdt/Down%20with%20the%20sickness%20-%20Backing%20track.wma

MP3 Version: 'http://www.richardlpalmer.com/media/gdt/Down%20with%20the%20sickness%20-%20Backing%20track.mp3'>www.richardlpalmer.com/media/gdt/Down%20with%20the%20sickness%20-%20Backing%20track.mp3

-----------------------------------------

And here is what is being output from GDT.

-----------------------------------------

MP3 Version: 'http://www.richardlpalmer.com/media/gdt/Down%20with%20the%20sickness%20-%20Backing%20track%20(slow).mp3'>www.richardlpalmer.com/media/gdt/Down%20with%20the%20sickness%20-%20Backing%20track%20(slow).mp3

-----------------------------------------

As you can see, the output file is completely unuseable. With my description of what I'm doing above, do you have any idea what I'm doing wrong?

Using bluegrass songs as an example where many times there are no percussion instruments, is it possible to isolate the bass notes and convert that to a midi file to play back thru a midi device like keyboards for example
